Peacemakers at every level of society
Yagana Peace accompanies communities as they create harmony and wellbeing for themselves. The initiative supports traditional methods of peace making and introduces new information and techniques for creating peace.
Yagana operates in a remote area of Mali challenged by drought, food insecurity, a jihadist insurgency and lawlessness. A no-go zone for most aid agency representatives, the region has received limited support from without.
Yagana takes care to accurately identify root causes of conflict and suffering through dialogue, research and staying connected to the situation on the ground.
Yagana Peace is collaborating with local ngo Association Dogon Initiative and Creators of Peace International to deliver workshops that enhance traditional methods of peace creation with new techniques and practices. Community members report feeling empowered by these new skills and understandings designed to improve communication in the home, in intra-communal conflicts and inter-communal conflicts.
